BaZi Destiny Calculator

BaZi (Eight Characters) is a Chinese metaphysical system that maps your birth date and time to a destiny chart of four pillars. Each pillar has two characters — a Heavenly Stem and an Earthly Branch — making eight characters total. These reveal your innate personality, relationship patterns, wealth potential, health tendencies, and favorable life directions. It is considered the most sophisticated predictive tool in Chinese fortune arts.

The Hour Pillar is determined by your birth hour and reveals your deepest desires, relationship with children, and the latter half of life. It also affects the balance of the five elements in your chart. If you don't know your exact birth time, the calculator will use noon (12:00) as a neutral default, but the Hour Pillar will be unreliable.

The Day Master is the Heavenly Stem of your Day Pillar — it is YOU. Every other element in the chart is analyzed relative to your Day Master. Knowing your Day Master element (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, or Water) and whether it is Yin or Yang reveals your core character, how you relate to others, and what type of luck and challenges you naturally attract.

The Chinese zodiac (12 animals) is based solely on your birth year and uses only the Earthly Branch. BaZi uses all four pillars and both Stems and Branches — resulting in 60× more complexity. Two people born in the same year will have completely different BaZi charts if they were born in different months, days, or hours. BaZi is significantly more personalized.

LiChun (立春, Start of Spring) is the first of the 24 solar terms, occurring around February 4th each year. In traditional Chinese astrology, this marks the true start of a new year for destiny purposes — not January 1st. Using the correct LiChun boundary is critical: someone born in January 2000 actually has a 1999 (Rabbit year, 己卯) Year Pillar, not a 2000 (Dragon year, 庚辰) one.
