新年如愿 — "may the New Year bring exactly what you wish for" — is the most specific of New Year blessings. Not just health and wealth in general, but the particular thing that the particular person hopes for. The fireworks at midnight announce: the old is over, the new is here.

The new year is fresh ground. What you plant in it now has the advantage of being first.

Plant your wishes in the fresh ground of what is new. The new ground has not yet been used. Be first.
