Eight Immortals
Lü Dongbin was a Tang dynasty scholar who passed the imperial exam and stood at the doorway of a prestigious official career. According to legend, he had a dream — the Yellow Millet Dream — in which he experienced an entire lifetime of success, rise, fall, and emptiness in a single night's sleep. He woke up, looked at the warm bowl of millet still cooking, and understood something he could never have learned from a book. He left the exam hall and chose a different path.
Lü Dongbin is perhaps the most popular of the Eight Immortals, associated with poetry, medicine, and the courage to walk away from what others consider success when your own heart points elsewhere.
Success that doesn\'t match who you are isn\'t success — it\'s a costume. What do you actually want? Not what looks good. What do you want?
