Ancient Wisdom
否极泰来 — from the I Ching, the ancient Book of Changes. 否 (pǐ) is the hexagram of stagnation and closure, where heaven and earth have separated and nothing moves. 泰 (tài) is the hexagram of prosperity and flow. The phrase means: when stagnation has reached its extreme, transformation begins. The I Ching taught that all things move in cycles. The closed season does not endure.
This phrase is 3,000 years old and still one of the most commonly used in Chinese culture. It encodes a philosophy: resist the despair of hard times by understanding their temporary nature. Not blind optimism — grounded trust in the movement of cycles.
The very fact that things feel like they\'ve reached a low is evidence that the turn is coming. Not eventually. It is already in motion.
